Tiff over Actress Asin and Actor Aamir Khan

Actress Asin was more boasting about herself as she was making her venture into Bollywood. Her debut film ‘Ghajini’ in Bollywood made her hit the headlines and it was not due to her. It was merely because of Aamir Khan who makes high waves with his each project. Right before commencing the project, Aamir Khan asked her not to speak to any media channels about this project or to any of the producers. Even she wasn’t supposed to handover her portfolios to any producers of Bollywood. At present, shooting for the film ‘London Dreams’ directed by Vipul Shah, the actress broke her silence and got into tiff over with Aamir Khan. Her statement was that she has been meeting whole lot of producers during these days and as everyone asks out for her portfolios, she is restricted by the rules.

Aamir Khan was surprised to hear those words from Asin and asked her to be patient. Even the other actress Jiah Khan has been restricted from meeting media channels and she doesn’t brim up with any such statements. Asin is not apt to be a part of Aamir Khan for he isn’t just a perfectionist for himself, but on his entire team too. Anyways, the promos released for the film has resulted murmurs across the town of Bollywood that her looks are not so impressive and questioning ‘Why Aamir committed this blunder roping in such actresses?" Maybe, after the film’s release Asin has the hopes of winning laurels….

Vijay’s Next Project “Vettaikaran” Still in Search the leading heroines

Actor Vijay’s next project after “Villu” is “Vettaikaran” as the movie is in search of the leading heroines and found none of them had accepted any offers. Vijay wants Asin in the lead but Asin bagged more number of Hindi films and asked Vijay to wait for but it’s not possible from producer’s side. Actress Illeana was the next go but she too busy in Telugu already she was preferred for two Vijay films but she regrets not only for him but to the entire Kollywood industry projects.

This time also actress Illeana says no to AVM’s “Vettaikkaran” and the producers of the film is in search of heroines once again. Hope the movie may stick on new actresses?

Asin has now moved to Mumbai divas in Bollywood

Having stormed Telugu and Tamil cinema Asin has now moved to Mumbai conquer the Hindi belt.And if the growing buzz is to be believed, after Hema Malini, Rekha and Sridevi, Asin Thottumkal is poised to be the next Bollywood diva from the South.

Tell her this, and Asin laughs in delight and embarrassment. "I admire the names you've mentioned. I'm a long way from getting anywhere near them. I thought I was fairly unknown in Mumbai. I guess I'm lucky. But yes I feel hugely welcome in Mumbai. I don't know why filmmakers are showing so much interest in me. I guess they must've seen my work in Tamil and Telugu.

Spirited spunky and beautiful Asin (pronounced Ah-sin) has a better sense of humour than most of the screen divas in Bollywood.

"Thanks for pronouncing my name correctly. Most people tend to give it an Islamic spin. 'Asin' is coined from Sanskrit and English. It means 'sinless' like 'Amala'….without blemish. I hope I live up to my name in Mumbai."

For now Mumbai is home. "I'm in Mumbai now. I thought that was the practical thing to do. But only because my immediate commitments are in Mumbai. I'm the brand ambassador for six multi-national companies and the ads need to be shot in Mumbai. Now there're the Hindi films."

Luckily Asin speaks Hindi without an accent. "I can manage it quite well. And I don't have a thick South Indian accent. In these days of globalization I don't think language is a barrier. And I'm only looking for good roles regardless of the language. I'm interested in films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and any other language as long as the projects are exciting. I look at the script, then the role, director, banner and finally my co- star."

Since she has moved to Mumbai there're rumours in the South that she's giving up on South Indian cinema. "That's completely untrue. Whatever I'm today is because of Tamil and Telegu cinema. Why am I expected to choose between Mumbai and the South?"

Asin is equally popular in Tamil and Telugu cinema. "I speak both languages fluently and do all my dubbing myself. I've never used a dubbing artiste for any of my films, not even for the Hindi ads that I've done. And I'm speaking in my own voice in my first Hindi film Ghajini. It's in sync-sound, so there was no choice."

With such a hectic 3-language cinematic career when and where does Asin get the chance to be normal?She laughs musically, "I guess I'm pretty normal and grounded. Because of the so-called stardom down South people expect me to behave in a particular way. And they're disappointed when I don't."

Actress Asin has no plans in Kollywood

With the recent stories published about Asin pairing up with Vijay in his next film to be produced by AVM, she has answered to the situation. Asin has said that this is nothing but the rumors for she has no ideas about taking Tamil projects at the moment. At present, busy shooting for Vipul Shah's London Dreams starring Salman Khan and Ajay Devagan in lead roles, Asin would be getting ready for the promos of Ghajni that would commence in the month of October. Also she has been roped in for pairing up with Kamal Haasan for the Hollywood flick titled '19 Steps' to be produced and directed by Bharath Bala. Apart from this, talks are now going on with a leading director for another big project that will the shooting hitting the floors in February 2009. So, busy in her Bollywood action, Asin has confirmed that she wouldn't be signing up with any Tamil movies for next two years.

Actress Asin`s maid clears doubts

Asin’s maid, who was alleged to have been kept under illegal detention by the star in Mumbai, appeared before the Chennai police on Saturday and said that she was working with Asin voluntarily.

Asin was caught in this drama when her maid’s family apparently filed a case that their daughter Bula, has been “kidnapped, kept against her will at the actress residence in Mumbai, is abused and now missing”. Based on the complaint, the police had launched investigations and also decided to question Asin.

However, on Saturday Beaulah told the police that she had been working with the star since 2003 and had voluntary left for Mumbai to be with her. “I was not kidnapped or detained illegally by Asin or her associates. I was working with Asin both as a maid and makeup artiste since she made her debut in cinema five years ago. A few months ago, I voluntarily went with Asin to Mumbai, where she is shooting for a film,” Bulah told the police.

The reason, Beaulah gave for not picking calls from her mother was that her mother was troubling her for more and more money. Following this, chennai police have decided to close the case.

Actress Asin Pairs Up Jackie Chan

Asin who appeared for the film “Dasavatharam” with Universal Hero Kamal Hassan as a pair attracts many. The beauty from God’s own Country Asin is currently busy with Hindi films. Already the actress is making a huge impact with some great hits may act in an international project too with Jackie Chan after seeing her at “Dasavatharam” audio launch.

Asin currently working in Hindi films but there were rumors that Asin permanently moved to Bollywood Industry. She is now paired for the Aamir Khan film “Ghajini” and she have been raining offers in Hindi too. Actress Asin was recently in Chennai to launch the commercials for Miranda. The new commercials featuring Asin would be launched across the country in a week. The new advertisements will be on air for six-eight weeks. The actress, who is the brand ambassador for the soft drink, also campaigned for the film Dasavatharam which is set to hit theatres soon. Asin is glowing whenever she gets an opportunity to speak about actor Kamal Hassan and Dasavatharam. She says it will be a landmark in her career.

Asin further adds that Kamal Hassan taught her many things on the sets of Dasavatharam and that he is a really a genius and a gem of Indian cinema. Though Asin is getting offers from Hindi industry, she loves to act in southern languages since it is her place and she got her first recognition here.

South indian Actress Asin & Nayan rocks!

India's leading weekly newsmagazine ' India Today' in its latest issue dated February 4, has named south Indian actresses Asin and Nayanthara as the two out of the five heroines to watch out for in 2008!

India Today had conducted an exclusive "Mood of the nation poll", conducted by AC Nielsen-ORG MARG in 19 states. According to the poll- "Who will be the No. 1 heroine this year? (2008)", Aishwarya Rai scored the highest with 20 percent, Kajol came second with 5 percent, and third position was tied between –Rani Mukherjee, Asin and Nayanthara with 4 percent each!

The poll does not mention other top Bollywood contenders like Deepika Padukone, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra and others. Anyway it is honour for these Malayalee girls to be featured among the top heroines in the country.

It is a short in the arm for south regional films as now one of the most reputed magazines in the country has given due recognition to their actresses. Hats off to Asin and Nayan- you have done us proud!
