Today, with talk of recession and pay cuts and power cuts, can the ultra-insulated film world be left behind? Now rumours of big stars taking salary cuts as producers struggle to stay afloat are surfacing. The big corporates that stepped into the South Indian film world and paid the stars any price they asked are now being cautious in projects they take on.Shriya is one of the first female stars to cross the magic amount of one crore per film. Now, she is extremely hurt by gossip that she has slashed her fee drastically, gossip that is creating confusion on her career front.
A national newspaper quoted her as saying, “I have no clue how such rumours originate. It’s not that I demand a hefty sum for my work. In fact, I have done movies without any pay. I have not demanded big money for Deepa Mehta’s What’s Cooking, Stella? or the Hollywood film. It’s not because of recession that I am cutting down on my pay. The industry needs money to flourish and at such hard times, I don’t think I will choose money over good movies. I always give importance to the script. At the end of the day, it’s all about having a nice movie in your kitty.”
Her Hollywood film, The Other End of the Line, an English film produced by Ashok Amritraj is now running in US theatres; Shriya is eagerly waiting for it to release in India. Though she had no releases in Kollywood or Tollywood this year, she is involved in many other projects, one of which is Kandasamy (Tamil) starring Vikram, titled Mallanna in Telugu. She has also signed up for Vishal’s next project Thoranai and another untitled flick with Dhanush.
I Always Give Importance To The Script Not Money-Actress Shriya

The long-listed queue of pursuit on heroines has finally come to a partial end. Padmashree Kamal Haasan has been hunting for his heroines much before Dasavatharam would hit the screens. Earlier, Hema Malini was the only actress who had signed for the project. Later, Bollywood actress Kajol refused to play another female lead role followed by other leading actresses and Shriya was one among them. Finally, Trisha was signed in the project with a call sheet of continuous 100 days and now Shriya Charan has been roped in.
Still, couple of heroines would be signed in while rest of the star-cast is yet to be confirmed. A.R. Rahman is the only technician who is on the confirmed list. Perhaps, Rahman is the busiest guy tuning in melodies for biggies Endhiran and Marmayogi.

Sarath Kumar’s next movie Jaggubhai in Bangkok
Sarath Kumar’s next movie Jaggubhai has started rolling in Bangkok without much fanfare and will continue shooting for the next couple of months. Sarath will be shuttling between Chennai and Bangkok to manage his movie and political engagements.
The film would portray Sarath Kumar in two get-ups. One as a young man and the other as the father of a teenage daughter. The daughter’s role will be played by Shriya Saran.
The movie will be directed by K.S Ravikumar. It can be recalled that the film Cheran Pandiyan directed by K.S Ravikumar was his first hit and also was Sarath Kumar’s first film as hero. The Sarath-Ravi Kumar pair has also given the super blockbuster Nattami. Lets hope they repeat the success story in this movie too.

Shriya Plays the role of a Poor Servant

Deepa Mehta who earlier made world famous films like 'Water', 'earth' and 'Fire' will feature her in the role of a servant maid and the sufferings she undergoes in the house of rich persons.

Dissappointment of top Tamil heroines
It has been a dissappointing phase for all the top Tamil heroines. First it was Shankar and Rajinikanth who signed Bollywood actress Aishwarya for Robot then now Raju Sundaram and Ajith have signed Katrina Kaif for their upcomming movie. There are also talks now that Tabu will be roped in to pair opposite Pasupathi in Rajini’s Kuselan.
Initially Shirya was the one who was going to act opposite Ajith in Raju Sundaram’s next, but then differences araised due to date problems and her controversial dance with Vadivelu in Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan. Finally Ajith had to put his feet down and ask Raju to sign a different heroine. Shirya did try to patchup but Raju still went ahead and singed Katrina.
Same is the case for Robot. Lots of heroine names were suggested for the lead actress role in Robot. Deepika Padukone, Nayantara were initially said to be the heroines in Robot. Then Shriya appeared in Shivaji silver jubilee function in a skimpy dress apprently to impress Shankar to consider her for Robot. Finally Shankar went ahead and signed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Looks like its time Kollywood heroines watchout….and stick to commitments with the other Tamil actors.

TN Assembly Shriya and Namitha’s indecent exposure rocks
The Tamilnadu assembly spent considerable time about the controversy over Tamil actress Shriya and Namitha’s outfit.
PMK member T Velmurugan attacked Tamil television channels, accusing them of airing obscene shows.
Velmurugan was referring to Namitha’s wardrobe in the popular dance show Maanadu Mayiladu on DMK owned Kalaignar TV, where she is one of the judges for the programme. And Shriya‘s attires at various events including the recent Sivaji Silver Jubilee Function attended by Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi.
